Prostration & Prayer: Embodied Devotion

Prostration is the act of kneeling on one’s face in devotion to God. In this course, we will study the roots of this practice in Judaism and how it evolved throughout history through an in-depth exploration of scripture.. We will look at Biblical stories of Abraham and Moses, as well as Temple times ritual and other prophetic sources. This class invites us to contemplate together what it means to pray with devotion and how the body is the central channel of prayer.
